Name: Ernestine
Location: CO

Ernestine is a meankitty

Every time the silly humans turned their backs, the chair monster mocked me. This is no more than it deserves. Next up? Vacuum monster. Say your prayers, SUCKA.

What makes Ernestine so mean?

I was repairing the chair when Ernestine, then about six months old, galloped into the living room and attacked it. I think the glowing eyes add to the fearsomeness of her visage. If you look closely, you’ll see she has extra toes on her front paws.

Advice: Cat Jekyll

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

Dear Meankitty,

I got your email address from online when I was searching for information about why my cat is so mean at times. Here is the story with my cat:

When I tell him no, after about 30 seconds he turns into “Jekyll” and he will lunge at me and bite me hard wherever his teeth may land. It has happened to my face even. I was afraid of my cat for about 5 years. He has mellowed a bit but when he is in a mood, he is downright mean. And what I don’t understand is, only about a minute or two after he has bitten me, he will jump into my lap purring.

I now have a 6 month old female (spayed) cat. They play together but I notice that he bites her too and I am afraid he will hurt her like he hurts me.

Can you give me some advice? Does my older cat need medication so his personality doesn’t snap like it does?

Dear CatBit,

Sounds like a human toddler! Pink Thing is currently in the “Don’t tell me no or you’ll regret it!” phase. Cats are smarter than humans give them credit for — well, Meankitty slaves know that already!

On the female cat, if you start finding actual wounds, worry about it then. Perhaps you can feed the female special growth hormone and she’ll get big enough to kick his kitty butt.

Advice: More Screens in Peril

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Dear Meankitty,

I have a 4 year old black male cat that won’t stay off the screens of our storm doors. Because of this he is tearing the screens to pieces and I don’t want to replace them again (I just replaced them all last week). Any help would be appreciated.

Dear Dave,

One option would be to get your darling kitty his own screen door to climb. He obviously enjoys that and I fully believe cats should be able to do whatever they enjoy. If you think that idea is bogus, check out my advice to Door Killer’s Owner. You can put sticky paws on screens as well as screen guards.

This is the place for an in-depth revelation of kitty antics that are *not* so cute, the place where the real face of kitty is revealed. This is… We’re happy to flea you. I mean, see you. Kitties do like their fresh meat.

Grand Opening

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Today is the first day our new site design has been live at the proper address, . We plan to have daily, or even more frequent, updates as we slowly convert current gallery cats to the new framework. We tried to keep the look and feel of the site as streamlined and familiar as possible while adding the ability for visitors to leave comments, get the RSS feed, share pages via social media, and be otherwise modern and savvy. Needless to say we’re probably 3 years behind the modern and savvy curve, but it works for now, right?

Feel free to leave comments on this post or back at the commentary blog, that Meankitty shares with Typing Slave. At least, we hope there are still people visiting after the long, dry spell. Please let us know if you stuck with us! We’re going to make it worth your while as old cats you know and new cats you will come to know traipse across the front page of the blog, shedding fur as they go.
